과학기술에 ‘역설계’라고 번역된 reverse engineering 이라는 것이 있다.  쉽게 말하자면 이미 만들어진 제품을 분해해서 그 원리를 알아내면 그것을 똑같이 만들어 낼 수 있다는 것이다.  법적인 문제가 있기는 하지만 선진국들의 기술을 후진국들이 따라가기 위해서는 어쩔 수 없이 행해지는 것이고 모방으로 배우는 것이다.

그런데 그리스도의 구원의 핵심은 사실 이 역설계이다.

‘예수 믿으면 천당간다’라는 말은 정말이지 너무 매력없는 말이다.  왜냐하면 다른 종교들도 그들만의 구원과 천당 혹은 극락을 말하기 때문이다.  구원=천당이라는 단순 미개한 신앙은 이제 탈피할 때가 된 것 같다.

성경에서 말씀하고 있는 구원은 무엇일까?  그리고 예수님이 오시기 전에 ‘예수 믿지 않던 영혼들’은 ‘천당’에 갈까?  요즘 큐티하는 히브리서를 보면 옛 언약과 옛 제사가 모두 헛된 것으로 나온다.  그렇다면 그들 모두는 ‘지옥’에 가야하나?  아브라함 조차도?  물론 그는 믿음을 따라 산 사람들로 묘사되어 믿음의 선진으로 정의하고 있다.

이 세상에 참된 ‘종교’는 셋이 있는데 그것은 유대교 기독교 이슬람교이다.  불교인들에게는 미안하지만 사실 불교는 그 시작이 철학에 가깝다.  그래서 부처에게 복을 비는 것은 좀 어이없는 일이다.  따지고 보면 내가 만든 불상에 내가 절하고 있는 것이다.  우상숭배라는 것이 다 그렇다.  나를 내가 섬기는 것이다.  (그렇다고 불교를 무시하는 것은 아니다.  순수한 불교는 나름대로 매력이 있다.)  그 외의 종교는 잡신 혹은 다신을 숭배하므로 유일신 종교인 위 세 종교만이 참된 종교로 정리될 수 있다.  그런데 그 중 유일하게 기독교만이 성삼위를 말한다.  이것은 유대교나 이슬람교에게는 신성모독이다.  어찌 거룩하신 (즉 우리 이성과 이해를 뛰어 넘어 완전히 다른) 하나님이 인간 나부랭이가 될 수 있단 말인가?  그렇다면 그 얘기는 인간도 하나님이 될 수 있다는 것인가?  그런가? ??

바로 그렇다!

성경 전체에서 우리에게 이야기 하고 있는 온전한 구원은 성육신 하신 그리스도로 말미암아 아버지께로 나아가며, 그리스도의 장성한 분량이 충만한 데까지 이르고, (요1 3:2) ‘그가 나타내심이 되면 우리가 그와 같을 줄을 아는 것은 그의 계신 그대로 볼 것을 인함이니’라는 말씀처럼 ‘그와 같이 되는’ 것이다.

사단은 이 비밀을 알았을까?  사단의 반역 시기(지금의 세상이 창조되기 이전)에 그는 정확히는 몰랐겠지만 사람이 창조된 후에 하나님의 계획에 대해 눈치는 챘을 것이다.  이전의 피조물과는 다르게 엘로힘의 모양과 형상에 따라 창조된 인간…  이것은 사단에게는 도전이요 위협이었을 것이다.  그래서 뱀의 모양으로 나타나 하나님의 계획을 뒤집어 유혹했다.  너희도 ‘먹는’ 쉬운 방법으로 ‘하나님과 같이’ 될 수 있다고.  그 후에 세상의 많은 종교는 ‘하나님 되기’를 따라한다. 힌두교, 힌두교에서 나온 불교, 그리고 신흥 종교인 뉴에이지까지.

문제는 ‘흙으로 지어진’ 인간이 ‘하나님 되기’는 불가능하다는 것이다.  그래서 이것을 가능하게 하려면 하나님이 먼저 인간이 되어야 하고, 그것은 인간으로 하여금 하나님 될 수 있는 길, 즉 온전한 지성소로 나아가는 길을 열어야 한다.  즉 역설계의 구원이다.

그렇지만 ‘하나님’이라고 해서 하나님과 맞먹는 동등한 위치는 아니다.  그렇게 말한다면 사단과 같은 이야기를 하고 있는 것이다. 요 10:35에서 ‘성경은 폐하지 못하나니 하나님의 말씀을 받은 사람들을 신이라 하셨거든’이라는 말처럼 먼저 하나님의 말씀을 받아야 한다.  그리스도가 부활의 첫열매 듯이, 그 후 많은 부활이 있으며, 그리스도가 하나님으로 부터 태어나신 ‘독생하신’ 아들이지만 이제는 ‘맏아들’이 되어 여러 ‘형제’들이 생겼듯이, 오직 하나님만이 세세토록 영광과 찬송을 받으시기에 합당하시다.  (히 1:6 또 맏아들을 이끌어 세상에 다시 들어오게 하실 때에 하나님의 모든 천사가 저에게 경배할지어다 말씀하시며 히 2:11 거룩하게 하시는 자와 거룩하게 함을 입은 자들이 다 하나에서 난지라 그러므로 형제라 부르시기를 부끄러워 아니하시고)  즉 그리스도를 통해 인간이 하나님의 영과 생명으로 이룰 수 있는, 원래 하나님이 계획하신 그 아름다운 ‘성품’이 하나님을 닮는 것이지 다른 이들에게 영광과 경배를 받는 다는 뜻의 하나님이 되는 것은 결코 아니다.  즉 신의 성품에 참예하는 것이다.

하나님이 인간 되신 것은 비밀이고 그것은 이해할 수가 없는 것이다.  그렇다면 인간이 하나님 같이 되는 것은 이해할 수 있을까?  여기에서 다시 역설계의 비밀을 볼 수 있다.  그리스도가 우리에게 보이셨기 때문이다.  그리스도께서 하나님의 아들이 인정되신 것은 ‘부활의 능력’이다.  (롬 1:4) ‘성결의 영으로는 죽은 가운데서 부활하여 능력으로 하나님의 아들로 인정되셨으니 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도시니라’  그러나 ‘온전하게 되는’ 것은 고난과 순종을 통해서이며, 그것은 영원한 구원의 근원이다. (히 5:8) 그가 아들이시면서도 받으신 고난으로 순종함을 배워서 (히 5:9) 온전하게 되셨은즉 자기에게 순종하는 모든 자에게 영원한 구원의 근원이 되시고

그렇기에 기독교 역시 종교가 아니다.  기독교에서 그리스도를 빼면 종교이고, 그리스도에서 고난과 순종을 빼면 죽음이 없고 죽음이 없으면 부활도 없으며 부활이 없으면 영생이 없다.  영생은 하나님과 그리스도를 아는 것이다.  이것이 참된 구원이다.

역설계를 통하여 구원을 이루시고 보이신 그리스도를 찬양한다.

Full salvation as Reverse Engineering

Reverse Engineering, when simply defined, is the ability to manufacture a certain item if one can disassemble and reassemble.  Legal issues may arise in the process, but many under developed countries learn by copying items that developed countries manufacture.

The core salvation of Christ lies in this reverse engineering.

I don’t find too much charming in saying ‘Believe in Jesus and you go to heaven’ because many other religions claim their own salvation and heaven or nirvana and what not.  We probably should escape the notion of ‘salvation=heaven’.

What is the true salvation that the Bible tells us?  Will those souls that were on the earth before Jesus came and so were not able to believe in Jesus make it to the heaven?   According to the word covered in today’s Q.T., all of the old sacrifices and rituals are found to be in vain.  If then, will they all have to go to ‘hell’?  Even Abraham?  Actually Abraham was portrayed as one who lived after the faith, a forefather of faith.

There are three true religions in the world and they are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.  Sorry for the Buddhists, but Buddhism has its roots as a sort of philosophy.  For this reason, asking for blessing from Buddha seems awkward.  One actually prostrates before an idol that he made himself.  Idol worship is a such a thing.  (Yet I am not despising Buddhism since it has its own merit)  All other religions worship ghosts or many different gods, so only those three can be true religions.  Of all three, only Christianity believes in the Holy Trinity or Triune God.  This is a blasphemy to Judaism or Islam.  How can a holy God, who surpasses our reasons or understanding can become a mere human?  Will this mean a human can become a god?  Is it so?

The answer is yes!

The full salvation that the Bible tells us is that we come to the Father through Christ incarnate, and we grow up to the full stature of Christ, and finally we become like Him.  (1Jn 3:2  Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is)

Would Satan ever have known this mystery?  He would have not known during his rebellion period (before our world was created), but once God had created human he would have notice something was coming.  Apart from the previous creatures Adam was create in God’s image and after His likeness.  It may have been a challenge and threat to Satan.  As a result, Satan tempted the man reversing and distorting God’s plan that ‘man can become like God’ by easy means of ‘eating.’  This notion of death of ‘becoming like God’ has been reproduced through many religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism which has its root in Hinduism, and the New Age movement of today. 

Problem is that it is absolutely impossible for a man who was ‘made with dust’ to become God.  To make this possible, God first had to become a man and open the way for the mankind (or God-kind) to become like Him.  This is the salvation of reverse engineering.

However, becoming God never means one can become just like God with the same position as the God head.  This would be a blasphemy and is actually the same as what Satan claimed.  As John 10:35 says “If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came--and the Scripture cannot be broken—,“ one first needs to receive the word of God, the life of God.  As Christ had become the first fruit of resurrection, there came a multitude of resurrected lives, and as Christ is the only ‘begotten Son of God’ and yet the ‘first’ Son now and now came about many other sons, only God and God alone is to be praised for ever and ever. “(Heb 1:6) And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."  (Heb 2:11) Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.”  One can become like God in God’s beautiful character and life as He originally had planned for man. It does not mean man can become an object of worship. 

It is impossible to understand the mystery of incarnation.  Is it possible then, on the other hand, to understand the possibility of man becoming like God?  Here we come back to the mystery of reverse engineering; for Christ has shown us.  Christ was proven to be the Son of God through ‘the power of resurrection.’  “(Rm 1:4) and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead： Jesus Christ our Lord.”  However, it is through suffering and obedience that He had made perfect. “(Heb 5:8) Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered (Heb 5:9) and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.” Likewise we become like Christ through suffering and obedience.

For these reasons, Christianity is not a religion.  Christianity without Christ is just another religion.  Christ without the work of suffering and obedience will not result his death.  Without death there is not resurrection.  No resurrection no eternal life.  Eternal life is the knowledge of God and Christ; it is the true salvation.

Praise the Lord who has gone through the reverse engineering to show what it means to be a full salvation.
